Who we are
Demo — Cleaning Business is a business operating in England and Wales.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Demo — Cleaning Business is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. That means we decide what data is collected and why, and we are responsible to you for how it is handled.
What we collect
We collect the following personal data:
- When you request a quote or make an enquiry: your name, email address, phone number, the address of the property, and the details you give us about the work you want done.
- When you become a client: your booking history, access arrangements for your property (which may include key or alarm information), service preferences, and any notes our team records about the work.
- Billing information: invoices, payments received, and amounts outstanding. Card details are handled by our payment provider and are never stored by us.
- Correspondence: emails, text messages and notes of calls between you and us.
- Technical information: your IP address and basic browser information, recorded in our server logs and used to keep the site secure.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To quote for and carry out the work you have asked for — necessary for the performance of our contract with you, or to take steps at your request before entering into one.
- To schedule visits, and to contact you about a booking — necessary for the performance of our contract with you.
- To invoice you and collect payment — necessary for the performance of our contract with you.
- To keep accounting and tax records — necessary for compliance with our legal obligations.
- To keep our website and our business secure, and to prevent fraud and abuse — necessary for our legitimate interests in running the business safely.
- To send you marketing about our services — only where you have consented, or where you are an existing client and we are offering a similar service. You can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where it is necessary:
- Our own cleaning staff, limited to what they need to carry out your booking — typically your name, address, access instructions and the work required.
- Local Clean Pro Ltd — provides and hosts the software this website and our booking records run on, acting as our data processor under a written agreement. Data is held in the UK/EEA.
- Google (reCAPTCHA) — screens form submissions for automated abuse. Google receives your IP address and information about your interaction with the page.
- Google (Maps Places) — powers the address lookup on our quote form. Google receives what you type into the address field.
- Stripe — processes card payments. We never see or store your full card number.
- Our accountants, insurers or legal advisers where they need it, and any regulator or authority where we are required by law to disclose.
Where a supplier processes data on our behalf, they act on our written instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes.
Where your data is held
Your data is stored on servers in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Where a supplier we use transfers data outside the UK or EEA, that transfer is covered by an adequacy decision or by the International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses approved for use in the UK.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become bookings: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records: for as long as you are a client, and then for 6 years after your last service, so that we can meet our tax, accounting and insurance obligations.
- Access details such as keys and alarm codes: deleted promptly once we no longer clean your property.
- Marketing consent records: until you withdraw consent, and then a minimal record that you opted out so we do not contact you again.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your data, where we have no continuing reason to keep it.
- Ask us to restrict how we use your data, or object to us using it.
- Ask us to transfer your data to you or another provider in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where our use of your data relies on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within one month. There is no charge, unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
